We have a new family member now. Her name is "Bo Bo" and she is from Pet Society. We haven't really meet her, but mummy has been taking good care of her everyday. She has her own house and own room. She does not sleep with us, she doesn't bark, she doesn't beg for food... but she is like us... she poo everywhere and anytime !! aha !

If you don't love them, please don't torture them, just leave them alone. If it is your job to catch them and put them down, please follow the right procedure. This is the biggest gift you can give to life and god will see it.

I first saw the video clips on the animal cruelty done by DBKL on TV3 programme 360 from homeapet.com. My eyes in tears while watching the clips and reading the news. No doubt, what was reported in thestar.com.my by WANI MUTHIAH was not exaggerate - "Members of the public are crying foul over the way stray dogs and cats are allegedly killed at the the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) animal pound in Setapak.". Yes, I am crying. What about you ?

We can see from the video, the pound worker dragging a dog with a loop around its neck, and obviously the dog was still alive! How could the workers or DBKL forget that those innocent furry creatures are also life, precious life created by god. If they were to be put down, the right procedure was to euthanise intravenously, and NOT wringing or breaking their necks.

Malaysian Dogs Deserve Better and friends hold a peaceful protest at the DBKL pound in Setapak on 7th of February to protest over the ghastly and cruel way stray dogs and cats are killed at the pound. The representative from DBKL promised to investigate and hopefully they would do something to about it.

White Lilies vs White Maltese

Mommy was hardworking on one of the Sunday and she followed mama (mommy's mommy) to the market. Besides all the yummy raw food, she bought 2 stalks of white lilies. Mommy always love lilies, especially the white one. The one she bought were really big and expensive. It costs RM 10 per stalk. Honestly, we rather mommy to buy us some chicken breast for us.

It was a Saturday, we thought it was going to be another boring day for Casper and I. But it was not, mommy took out our leash and put the harness on us... yippi.... we were going out gai gai...

It was a park ! Hey, It looked familiar, just like the part we went not long ago with lots of doggies. But there wasn't any doggie today. No crowd, no booth, no people, no competition, just us! Mommy loosed our leash so that we could roam around freely. We are the King of the Park!

Malaysia Responsible Dog Onwnership Day (19th Oct 2008)

Also known as MROD 2008... the annual event for the doggie event by puppy.com @ Central Park BU. Mommy managed to get Yit Soo che che to bring along her 2 Shi Tzu puppies but she had to leave early for the church. So until today, we still do not have the opportunity to meet with Chrisso and Fluffly...

Same as the previous doggie event at Central Park, mommy brought us there to walk walk and to meet some doggie friends. But our interest is more than that... We wanted to build our KINDGDOM! Yes, we managed to build our territory starting from the park entrance until the other end of the park, not forgetting the lakeside!

For the first time, mommy went to 'pat' on the competition and she told us that she finally learnt how to play the "Musical Chairs", but to us, the game is keep asking us to "Run" , "Sit" and "Stay" under the hot sun, not intereting at all, we rather MARK! aha...

As compensation for me (ok, ok, for Casper and I) had to miss all our favourite outdoor activities, especially jungle trekking due to mommy's laziness, she bought a high 5 (high fat, high cholesterol, high salt, high sugar and highly yummy) New York Cheesecake for me as my 3rd birthday cake !

This is definately a very unhealthy choice, but we really love the cake and enjoyed it.

New Tricks by Hero and Casper

Just finished watching the HK drama series - "When a dog loves a cat". 'Siu Ba', the mongrel acted in the series performed some tricks during the launching of Koo Cologne. "Crawl" is one of the tricks 'Siu Ba' performed and this is the trick / command that I never thought of teaching Hero and Casper.

At the beginning, I thought this is not an easy trick to teach because they are just too used to the "come" command, to walk or run to me in what ever style they are comfortable with. In contrast to "come", "crawl" is the "come" command in which their butt have to stay close to the floor.

I started teaching Hero with him in the "down" command. Then, I hold his favourite treats in front of him (close to the floor). I started pulling the treats forward. At the same time, I used my the other hand to push his butt forward. Seems very rough :-P but it works after a few pushes and Hero got the point - 'to move forward in the "down" position'. Wonderful!!!

Next, is Casper's turn. I would think Casper could be much more harder to teach since he is very easily being distracted when he sees his favourite treats. Surprisingly, I only tried 1 push. The second time, i pulled the treats forward, Casper already managed to crawl!!!

Trapped in Curtain

A few weeks back, there was a fly trapped between the sliding window and the curtain in the living room. The fly caused the annoying sound...wee.... woo... wee... woo.... Hero was too curious to "catch" the little creature and accidently trapped in behind the curtain. He took some time "escape" from the trap... looks very funny :-D

It's annual Dog Olympic again!

JC didn't manage to come because her mommy just delivered a little princess a day ago. Congratulation to her ! :-D

However, Hero and Casper met a new fur friend - Fei Fei. Fei Fei is a Pekin-ShiTzu. He is the darling of my ex-collegaue, Yuin Kuan. I have been hearing his name, seeing his cute photos and videos long time ago, but haven't got the chance to meet up with him. Surprisingly, Yuin Kuan brought him today.

This was his first time seeing so many dogs around. He was curious on the environment and the dogs he saw. He tried to mix with the groups but he didn't really know how, so it was quite funny seeing him running after the group of dogs.

As opposed to Fei Fei, my two little 'sakai' seems to be so much naughty. Hero was very busy marking everywhere, trying to build his 'kinngdom' in Center Park! While Casper was busy chasing the 'girls'... so 'ham sap'... and embarassing! As usual, we didn't join any of the competition. I just unleashed Hero and Casper to roam freely in the park to explore the environment themselves.

New Play Pen Setting

Today I tried a new playpen setting for Hero and Casper. They had been in the same hexagon Playpen for some time. It's time to try a new setup. What about 2 square playpen? Each of them in a square space. It could be fun, I have my space and you have yours!

After a few days, I started to think it is very tiring for me to setup 2 playpen everyday. I only have 8 fences at home. One of the fences has been placed at the entrance of the living room to prevent Hero and Casper sneak out to the car porch and one of which is placed at the door between the dry kitchen and the wet kitchen (where the rubbish bin is). I left only 6 available. Hexagon playpen best suited me. While with 2 square playpen, I have to grabbed the extra 2 fences from its usual place every morning, do the setup and returned the 2 fences to its original place everyday I came home (or my mother came home).

Finally, I decided to stick to the hexagon playpen. Wouldn't it be nice? During the thunderstorm, Hero and Casper and lean against each other .... :-D

Some update for Mar 2008

There isn't much thing happened in the month of March. Mommy has been so lazy nowadays. No jungle trekking, rarely take us for evening walk now. Our most exciting activity is the training session. The hide and seek and "stay-come" is the best of the best, our favourite! Besides the yummy treats we got, it is a good exercise source for us. Casper and I would race to search for mommy. We also wants to be the first to reach mommy. I am good at running because Casper is too fat! That's what mommy also called Casper, 'tua bui'... hehe.. But Casper is a good seeker. He has a very good sense of where mommy would hide.

Some update for Feb 2008

It's has been a long time the blog left un-managed. Some friends of mine started complaining, "Hey, how's Hero and Casper ? Why there is no update to the blog? ". It's not that I am very busy, hmm, perhaps I am, busying pak toh :-P Well, I did spend time with them and took picture of them, just that I am quite lazy to update the blog... hehe...

So, what was on during February? Besides the Chinese New Year celebration, there is also the Valentines Day! We think of flowers and chocolates during Valentine's Day. Yes, the photos I am going to share is all about flowers (No chocolate, of course!).

I had never bought flowers for my mother on Valentine's Day. This year, I decided to get her a bouquet of mix lilies and roses! It was a surprise for my mother. She was so happy. The bouquet is so big and she had to "hug" the flower to get it hold steadily.

Two days later, I tied the bouquet and hang it at the staircase to make them dried flowers. Something interesting to Hero and Casper now. The upside down bouquet started dripping water and I had to place the newspaper underneath for 30 minutes to absorb the water. Hero and Casper stood next to the newspaper, looked at the bouquet and dripping water curiously. No "special" action so far, good boy!

It was too early to praise them. The next day when I came back from work, guess what? The fur around Casper's face turned yellow! The first thing came to my mind was, Casper licked Hero's pee pee. Casper has had his yellow face once because he 'smartly' put his head under Hero's tummy when Hero was doing his small business. Yes, It was yucky! But hang on, the face smell good, not the pee pee odor.

I started to look around where Casper got his fur turned yellow. After a while, I saw some leaves and flower petals on the floor. This is the colouring source! Casper stood up with his hind leg to bite the flower's petal! The pollen caused the yellowish in Casper fur!

It's the annual K9 Event at Center Park Bandar Utama! Also, as usual, we went but didn't participate in any of the competition and game. We met our JT mates and greet them a quick Hello and begun our teritorry marking session :-D It was a sunny day. Mommy said it is a good day to get some sun burn for our fadding nose. So hot!

Casper's diary IV - Hero is notti again :-D

Hoorey.... Hero has recovered and become the notti big brother again. After a week of the e-collar life, Hero is 'free' again! It was an extremely heart broken experience during the time when Hero was sick.

It was a nightmare to all of us in the family. Hero neither can sit nor lie down comfortably because of his wound. Mommy couldn't sleep well at night and she has to come home everyday to check on Hero during the lunch time. I know it was very tiring for her, but I am happy because I can see mommy! And me, of course, feel so sad because Hero didn't 'talk' to me, play with me or fight with me. I know he was in pain.

Well, well...... finally... finally, it is over now. Hero is recovered and back to normal and everyone in the family is so happy.

Thank you so much for 'get well soon' wishes from all the fur pal. Hero and Casper shall be back again. Merry Christmas everyone!

Casper's diary III - Hero is sick

15th Dec 2007 (Saturday)

Mommy didn't sleep well again last night. So was Hero. Mommy put the collar on him. Hero was unconfortable with that and could not 'fully' lie down side way to sleep. At 6 am, mommy woke up to check on Hero, she found that Hero was not next to her bed, he was about 1 feet away from the bed with his head facing mommy's bed. His head was not lying on the floor, he was not sleeping. I don't know if he sleep last night, because I stayed at a corner far away from him so that he could have his 'space' for resting.

Poor Hero, mommy took off the collar and he started to lie down and sleep.

It's 1pm now. He is still resting, in the living room with mommy and ma ma (mommy's mommy).

Mommy is very worried, Hero didn't go to toilet to pee for more than 24 hours... while his eating and drinking is normal, may be he was drinking less water than usual. Mommy will continue monitor and see if she need to take Hero back to the vet.

Casper's diary II - Hero is sick

14th Dec 2007 (Friday)

Mommy didn't sleep well last night. She tried to monitor Hero so that he would not over-lick his wound. Mommy tried to put the collar on Hero, but Hero could not sleep with that. So, mommy decided not to let Hero wear it, but to keep on the monitoring.

At 10am, mommy made a phone call to Dr Lai Chong to confirm on the location of the vet clinic. Then mommy confined me in the play pen and took Hero to the clinic. I was nervous because I have not been alone at home since I was a puppy. I waited for about 1.5 hours before mommy came home with Hero.

Mommy told me that, she didn't see Dr Lai Chong, instead another vet called Dr Marvin. When she entered the clinic, she thought Dr Lai Chong was the onli vet in the clinich and didn't mention she wanted to see Dr Lai Chong. So, she was lead to Dr Marvin.

Dr Marvin asked for a lot of information about Hero before the examination, from his food to his medical history and record. After the 'diagnosis', he also concluded that Hero's anal gland was ruptured. Dr Marvin preferred to go for the treatment option without the anesthesia to clear off the infection. Anesthesia would be his last option if Hero could not cure within 2 weeks. Mommy felt such a relief when she knew this.

For the rest of the 1 hour, mommy worked together with Dr Marvin to clean Hero's wound. Mommy have to let Hero to put on the muzzle because when Hero got scared, he would growl and tried to bite the doc. Mommy carried Hero with one had around his weist and one hand to tighten the muzzle. Dr Marvin shaved the hair around the anus and the wound in order to proceed to the treatment. I think this would be the most difficult 1 hour in Hero's life.

Hero was given the antibiotic, anti inflammation, prebiotic pills and the iodine liquid. He has to be on medication for 2 weeks.

Casper's diary I - Hero is sick

13th Dec 2007 (Thursday)

Today was mommy birthday. It was supposed to be a happy day for celebration. But Hero fell sick. His left anal gland burst! He pood a lot and the wound was bleeding. When mommy reached home after work at 7pm and found out Hero's condition, she got so panic. I knew mommy was worried, and me too. I could not doing anything to help, so I just be good boy, behaved myself so that mommy need not to worry about me.

Immediately mommy called the vet near our house, told the vet about Hero's condition. She was about to close and she was so kind and agreed to wait for us. After the examination, mommy was being told that Hero need to be on general anesthesia in order to clear the infection. Mommy wasn't sure is this the treatment she should choose for Hero. However, mommy make an appointment with the vet on Friday morning for the 'surgery'.

After leaving the vet clinic, mommy called few of her friends and seek for opinion. Finally, mommy decided to take Hero to visit another vet, Dr Lai Chong, the vet whom Jiro visited last time.

KKB Waterfall Trip (22th Nov 2007)

Today is a special day to us. It was our first trip to Kuala Kubu Bharu waterfall. It was also my first experience of long distance drive out of KL/PJ area and also the fist experice of Hero and Casper sit in the car for more than 2 hours!

It was a Thursday and hence not many of the homeapet member joined the trip. Only 4 members and 6 dogs.
1) Ying & Yang with one of their Maltese, Barney

3) Yvonne with her Maltese, Snowie
4) ME and Hero and Casper!!!

We left home at 9.30am for Subang KTM station to meet with the other member and we departed for the waterfall at 10am. It supposed to be a 1 1/2 hours drive but it took us 2 hours to reach the waterfall because I was a slow driver :-p

Half way in the highway, Casper fell down from the back seat and he crawled to the front of through the bottom of driver seat (-_-)" I had to stop at the road side to get him out there as he was interupting my driving. dangerous de...

Finally, we reached Kg Pertak after 2 hours of driving. We had to walk for about 10 minutes to our "picnic" stop. After settling down, we started our "swimming" session.

Hero was extremely scared of the water, even with me carrying him walked across the river, he was too afraid, trying to climb to my shoulder. His legs were stiff and he was trying to grab anything he could to prevent him from falling into the water. Seeing him so afraid, I didn't force him down to the water.

To my surprise, Casper was so much better than Hero. He was scared, but he was more willing to go to the water and he could swim more. Brave boy!

We walked across the river and I left them to stand on the swallow part. Both of them were shivering. Pity the two of them. Because I couldn't fully focus on each of them, I decided to take them up to the shore. They were much more happier to explore the land and marking the territory.

Snowie was the only "girl" and she became Casper target. Casper would follow her where ever she went. even Snowie was sitting quietly next to her owner, Casper couldn't stop sniffing her and even sit next to her! Guess what, Casper 'tai go chai' already, He tried to hump Snowie... first time ever I saw him being 'naughty'! :-p It was embarass :-p

New Play Pen Setup

This week, mommy setup a new confined area for us. The play pen is a fencing area with hexagon shape. It is just next to the living room. Although the area is smaller than the kitchen area, but we enjoy it because we can see the whole sliding window! We can see what's outside the house! We can see mommy's car reaching the gate... It's much more excited...

But, we have to hold our pee and poo for longer time because mommy didn't place the potty inside the playpen! However, we are not worry. Mommy will be back during the lunch hour and let us out for potty and ............... some snack !!!!!

Time for snack!

When snacks are given to Hero and Casper, it will be either one of them finish eating before the other.

If Hero finishes first and Casper leaves it on the floor, showing no interest in that slice of food, but Casper will still be there to "guard" his food from being eaten by Hero. And Hero will sit there looking at the food!

Hero: "Mommy, can I have that orange? Casper doesn't want to eat..."

Or, when there is only 1 chewing bone and Casper "have" it, Hero will sit next to Casper, staring at the chewing bone, barks ocasionally to urge Casper to leave it.

If Hero were the one who "have" the bone or snack, Casper will just stay aside quietly. He is not scared, yet he is waiting for opportunity whereby Hero leaves the bone / snack and he will "steal" it from Hero! aha.... smarter, right :-D

Hero: "woof! faster la, if you don't want, leave it! I want it!"

Casper: "Sshh... I have it.... you line up..."

Brushing time...

It is the brushing time again... aha... When Hero sees me holding the basket with their brushes and combs inside, he will stay far far away from me. Sometimes he hides in the kitchen and refuses to come out. So, Casper is always the first 'victim' for the brushing session.

A "proper" brushing can take up to 1.5 hours. Hence, both Casper and I become tired. Well, I think Casper is sleepy rather than tired... Hero will be happy when he knows I am tried because I won't spend such a long hour to comb his fur... :-P

This is what I've stolen from mommy 's "TV". I wonder what she has been doing that few days. About 2 weeks ago, mommy always looking at the "TV", busy clicking here and there. I also heard a lot of 'tak tak tak' sound. Hero told me it was the keyboard sound. I don't know what is that. But I definitely don't like the "TV" because there was a day mommy nearly forgot to feed us. We had our meal 1 hour later than the usual time. My tommy was making lots of noise.

Pet n U Carnival (9th Sep 2007)

A nice weather for outdoor activity, sunny but not too hot (in the morning). It was Sunday and also the annual Pet n U Carnival!

As usual, we didn't participate in any of the competition. Our main purpose was to walk walk and mark our territory * devil smile *

When we were walking towards the park entrance, Casper started barking, as if he was trying to tell his friend "Hey buddy, I am here... wofff wofff".

The walkway surrounding the competition area was pack and full of dogs. Big dog, small dog, fat dog, thin dog, furry dog.... etc. Hero was getting more excited and trying to make friend around. Of course, he didn't forgot to do his marking along the way...

After a few rounds of walking, finally we stopped at the grass area next to pond near the playground. There was no dog there, yeah! This piece of land is ours ! I "semi" off leash them, letting them roam around by themselves. When they saw other dogs approaching, they would take the opportunity to cross the "border" and make friend with the other furkids and I had to called them back each time. Embarrass me.... but good exercise, for chasing my own dogs. :-p

New Tricks = Weaving Between Legs

It has been a long time I wanted to teach Hero this tricks. I saw Pacco and Groovy performed it so well and really amazed by them. It is not difficult to teach, Hero is quick at learning tricks, it is the teacher problem, where by the teacher is teaching with the wrong method. Finally, I learnt the method and Hero pick up the tricks. I am so proud of Hero. It's time to show off a bit :-D

Jungle Trekking (4th August 2007)

It's Saturday again... When I woke up, Hero and Casper still blur blur sleeping there. They knew I was up, but they just continued with their sweet doggie dream. Straight after I took out my trek bottom, the two of them jumped up and wagged the tail like crazy... they knew we were going to jungle trekking.. amazing...

This week, I still brought the rotan, just standby... to discipline Hero when he starts showing his dominant & fighting and to stop Casper when he barks like crazy at bigger dog... Hopefully they will behave better this week. Well, at last, my rotan was not as effective as Sow Fun's Tone of Discipline... Casper listen to her :-D

It was raining the night before. The trek was quite muddy and slippery, Hero and Casper's leg became yellowish very fast, not even half of the trek. they got quite dirty but they enjoyed the outing very much.

Before leaving for home, we went for breakfast at the Indian mamak... fed them with few small pieces of plain roti canai :-p

Night Out @ Friendster Cafe

I always wanted to take the furkids to Friendster Cafe after seeing so many pictures from the ALL Pets Gathering Friendster Cafe @ HomeApetforum. But I am quite worry that they will misbehave outside. After a few tries bringing them to the mamak and chinese kopitiam, I somehow "think" that they can behave themselves. So, I decided to bring them to the cafe last friday.

On that day, I prepared myself to leave office "early", at 7 pm, to rush home and bring the WHOLE family for the dinner.

We were very lucky. I managed to get the parking space right in front on the cafe entrance. Not much patron on that night. We reached there about 7.45pm and only 1 seat outside was occupied. The waiter arranged us a corner table, next to the entrance. My mother and I thought of letting the kids to sit on the chair because we are lazy to clean them later. But the chairs are the type which have gap in between the stainless steel plate. The kids didn't dare to move after I put them on the chair... kesian them, they just stand still there. Finally, I let them to sit on the floor.

As usual, I tied their leash to my chair. They are excited and busy walking here and there to sniff around. After settled down, they sit quietly under my chair and the table, with some barking, occasionally to the stranger who walked pass us :-(

And as usual, I shared my food with them. But I only gave them the bread, because the food we ordered is too oily and salty for them.

I am quite happy with them. Their overall "performance" are good. They behave themselves well. I think they will be more "civilize" in the future with more outing and not going to bark at the patron :-D

Teaching them new tricks is fun. Especially when they pick up the tricks. You just feel so proud of them!

I have not taught them many tricks, mainly because I don't know what to teach them. Here are the tricks/commands they learn so far.

1) sit
2) heal
3) down
4) wait (wait for food most of the time)
5) stay
6) roll
7) "hoop" (sit up)
8) sleep (the famous bang bang game)
9) turn (turn around themselves)
10) bow - only Hero
11) bark
12) Quiet - only Casper and only at home... he barks like crazy when outside the house :-(
12) Circle (walk around me) - only Hero
13) Cross (weaving around legs) - only Hero
14) fetch - catch what I throw - only Hero
15) give - leave what is in the mouth - only Hero
16) take - take the toy nearer to me - only Hero

Obviously, Hero knows more tricks, not because he is smarter. It is mainly he is more stable when he sees the treats. He will listen carefully what is the command and do it right. While Casper get excited when he sees the treats, he will simply do all commands he knows in order to get the rewards or he will be so happy and starts jumping up and down...

Here are some tricks where there is static post and easier for the photo taking.

Bow

"Hoop" (sit up)... the best trick Casper knows... he can remain the position for a very long time.

"Hoop" (sit up).. Hero does not pick up this trick so good.. his buttock will leave the floor and he waves his front leg like 'ching ching'

I was sitting in front of this poo poo for quite some time, trying to figure out how did the kids pass the feces... It just looks like The Tower of Pisa...

It was a Sunday morning few months back, after I woke up and I saw this in my attached bathroom. Not sure Hero or Casper "produced" this... but it was amazing, he must be aiming very hard to get the poo stands :-P This was something that make the whole family laugh the whole morning... even until now...

Well, on that day, I forced the kids to drink lots of water... It could just be constipation... :-(

Dog Olympic 2007

The event was few months back. Finally our pictures are published.

It was the annual Dog Olympic and we were very happy. Mommy finally don't need to work on Sunday. We have been at home most of the time and today we finally had the taste of stepping on the the grass in this spacious park. As usual, we went there just to walk walk and to enjoy the sun bathing on the grass. We didn't join any games because mommy is so lazy :-(

The MyFM DJ, Lam Tak Weng (Jack) were there, with his wife and his lab. Too many people surrounding them and we only managed to stay far far away 'smelling' them.

There was a pretty little girl. She saw us and like us very much. She kept playing with us and didn't want to leave us. Her mother tried to bring her to take a picture with Jack. She cried! Because she want to come back to us and play with us... See... we are more attractive than the famous DJ... hehehe

Car Ride

Like many dogs, Hero and Casper love car riding. Whenever I walk near the door and grab the key (any key), they will get very excited. Casper will jump up and down, as if he knows that we are going to 'gai gai'. Of course, most of the time I will bring them along if I am going to somewhere nearby, to fetch my sister to/from tuition, to buy back dinner...etc.

Hero enjoys 'standing' beside the car window. He never get tired. He likes to see the people, car, building outside the car. While Casper is more passive, he loves to lie down in the center of the back seat and enjoy the cooling air cond.

I love to take picture for Casper. Besides of his a photogenic look, it is always easier to take picture for him compare to Hero. Why? Because Casper can remain in a posture for a longer period. Pet n U Carnival

Another event from the K9 calendar! As usual, we went for the event but did not join any competition! We went there just to walk walk, see see and to meet up with friends and the doggie pal.

Finally I met August! This beautiful Lab belongs to my ex-co, Summer. August just finished her swimming session at the lake when we arrived there. Hero as excited as usual, kept snifting and very busy marking his territory. While Casper is more 'stable'. He just walked next to me quietly.

Hero was over excited and he poo. His stools was so soft and sticked on his fur at his butt! yucky... I just couldn't stand and I have to clean it. Coincidently, there was a young girl, she saw Casper and just love him. She wanted to find out from me where I bought Casper and how she can contact the breeder. It was very rude of me because I was too busy cleaning Hero and didn't pay much attention to her question. I didn't answer her question properly. Really wish to appologize to her later. But didn't manage to meet her again. Hmm... Hope she can see this message...

After the cleaning, Summer and August lead us to the grass area next to the lake. The area was not occupied. So we decided to let our furkids to roam freely in that area. Hero and Casper were having a great time playing chase chase. Hero still busy with his marking and Casper is so lazy.. he kept laying down, enjoying the feel of the grass...

Summer and August left and here came my high school mate, Moui Seng and her new GR puppy, Jessie! Jessie is about 3 months and she is now a little bigger than Hero. Jessie wasn't used to be with so many dogs, she was afraid. After quite sometime, she managed to mixed around and started to play chase chase with Casper.. :-D

Hero's 1st Birthday

10th of October is the very special day to me. It is Hero's birthday! It is also a very special day to Hero. That day was the first day I bought him a chicken rice, the REAL chicken. He never had a chance to eat so many chicken meat at a time, without performing any tricks. He finished his food within a minute. Immediately after licking his very last bite of chicken, he turned to me as he was asking for another bowl... :-D He enjoyed so much.

There was a birthday candle blowing session few hours after the dinner. I got Hero a cheese cake. Both Hero and Casper were very curious about the cake and the candle. The smell of the cheese attracted them so much. They just couldn't wait for another session of eating :-D

While I was carrying Hero and the whole family we singing the birthday song, Hero looks so miserable. I think he must be wondering why everyone is looking at him, speaking in such a 'funny' language... haha... He looks very 'kan cheong' in the pic.

Casper's first outdoor event

Today was the Malaysia Responsible Dog Ownership Day 2006. It was also the first day Casper is out for an outdoor event and the first time Hero is outdoor after 2 months of "prison" life.

When we arrived at the Center Park of Bandar Utama, Hero was so excited. He walked very fast and sniffing along the way towards the main entrance of the park. When we stepped on the grass of the park, Hero's tail was wagging so hard. I know he was extremely happy, he just couldn't wait to meet with his friend. Meanwhile, Casper was very frighten. My mother was carrying him all the while. When we tried to let him down, he "grabed" my mother's arm so hard and refused to do so. Finally, when we managed to get him down, Casper just sat down and didn't dare to move. Hero acted like a big brother and was trying to guide Casper. With Hero around, Casper adapted to the environment very fast. He starts to walk with his tail pointing downward.

Most of the JT member were there. Dueches came with her new playmate, Ben. That was the first time I saw her on her clothes. She looks so smart and steady. Jiro already went home by the time we reached there.

Slowly, Casper adapted to the new environment and getting excited. His tail no more ponting downward. He walked faster and acted more pro-active compare to the beginning he was at the park. He started to sniff other dogs :-D

The surprise of the day was, we met Casper's "cousin sister", Angel! Although they are the same age, Casper's sister is only half the size and weight of him! Casper is 3.1 kg and his sister is only 1.5kg! They couldn't recognise each other. I tried to make them sit together and take the photo of two of them. When I managed to make Casper sit beside Angel, once I moved backward, Casper would followed me and moved away from where Angel. After trying a few times to make Casper to sit still there, I gave up.

Finally we met Pacco on our way to the car park. Hero was happy to see her. As usual, Amanda is activly joining the competition.

It was a great day. It was great to see the furkids enjoying themselves.

Hero's tear stain is getting worst. The tear stain is brown in color. This make his face looks so dirty. I have been cleaning his face and tear stain everyday, yet the stain still there and the color is getting darker as time passed. Hero has a new name now.. "Ah Pek" (uncle)... because the tear stain looks like an eye bag. I am going to bring him to the vet for a body checkup, to examine if he is not feeling well with other part of his body and causing him tearing so often. Hero... Hero... how I wish you can talk in human language and tell me which part of your body is not feeling well...

It is very enjoying to take the photo for them. Taking their picture is not easy because they always move here and there. Very often when I caught them in a good post, I quickly pressed the camera button, the captured image always turned out to be blur because they were changing the post. Taking indoor photo is much easier, at least I can "force" them to stay still at a post or a place by putting them on top of the chair, see.. the quality of the photo not bad huh ! haha..

It has been a busy month for me... Been working till late everyday... Hero and Casper always sit at the door waiting for my arrival... It is always hard and guilty to leave them for such a long hour. Yet, it is very happy to see them being excited when they see my car arrives outside the gate. Hero would jump here and there, barking at my mother, as if he is telling my mother "mummy is home, open the door". I really hope that I can have more time to spend with them, just like before. It is going to be another 2-3 busy months, hope this busy period will end soon... Hero, Casper, sorry, mummy have so little time for you...

Jungle Trekking (15th July 2006)

Here comes our weekly routine, Jungle Trekking! As usual, Hero and I left home at 7.30a.m. After weeks of the activity, Hero somehow "knows" that we were heading for Bukit Gasing. He laid down on the carpet quietly enjoying the morning air cond. Right after I parked the car and pulled the hand break, Hero immediately sat up and expected me to open the car door soon. He tried to run towards the waiting area, yet he was on the leash and he had to wait for me to keep up with his speed.

As usual, Amanda and Pacco were the first to arrive there. Most of the trekker turned up. Dorothia, the trekker from Switzerland with her Vanilla and Zueker, didn't join us as she went for holiday with her family.

Without waited too long, Pei Shy turned up. She brought a cane today! Guess what, that's for punishing Yen Yen if he tries to hump on other dogs or our leg! Yen Yen seems didn't notice about the cane. Not too long after we started the trekking, Yen Yen targeted Sow Fun's leg. Of course, he got 'fit fit' by his mummy. Poor thing... The caning was very effective, Yen Yen was well behaved for the rest of the journey :-p

After the first stop beside the stream, Rocky and Amanda left. We continued the trek. We tried other path that day. The distance was longer but with less slope. It was the first time Hero and I walked through that trek. Hero walked much slower and sniffing along the path.

We had a mini photographic session at our second resting point. The furkids were well behaved and everyone got a photo snapped !

This was the second time within a week, Hero and Casper torned their potty's newspaper... I wonder what happened to them. I confined the both of them in the kitchen as usual before I went for car service. At the moment I came back and stepped into the kitchen, I saw the newspaper pieces were all around the kitchen. Even worst, the toilet roll was their victim as well. I was scratching my head thinking how did they managed to grab the toilet roll...

For Hero, may be he couldn't go for the jungle trekking this week and he needs a way to release his energy ? :-p

Casper... not sure... may be he just followed hero or he has "discover" the fun of tearing newspaper???

World War I - 19th June 2006

It was Monday. My mother and sister usually reach home at about 5p.m. However she has to do some shopping with my sister on that day. Thus, I reached home before them. It was about 7.30pm. Gosh, when I entered the kitchen, I nearly fainted. The pentagon playpen I set for Casper to stay inside during the day time was "torted". Newspaper for potty were torned everywhere. Not only Hero's newspaper, but also Casper's. Not sure who started and the other one followed. The cloths I put inside the playpen for Casper was pulled ouside. They must be having hard time for some tug-o-war game...

Jungle Trekking (17th June 2006)

This is the thrid time Hero and I joined the Jungle Trekking.

Amanda and her Pacco, Pei Shy and her Yen Yen were not there. Hence, Vanilla, the female Irish Terrier, was the only "big" dog.

It was also the first time Zuiker, the male Irish Terrier, joined the trekking family. David brought his 6 months old female Shih Tzu, Rain, for the first time too.

Champ turned up today, and he and Hero were having the non-stop "jazz" and humping session -_-"

Launching of The Dog Scouts of Malaysia

It was the official launching of the Dog Scouts of Malaysia. Hero and I arrived at the Ikano at 5p.m. This was the 2nd time we been to Ikano, yet Hero still shaking with fear when we were waiting for the lift. Luckily, Amanda and Pacco were in the same lift we were using, Hero felt more confortable and shaked less in the lift.

We followed Amanda to Pet Safari for a short shopping. I met Joan in the puppy section. Joan was Hero's "ex mummy". She was the staff in the petshop where I bought Hero. Hero seems couldn't recognise her. Or he was distracted by the new environment? Not sure...

There was a an Agility competition and demonstration, then followed by the "launching ceremony" of the Dog Scouts at 7p.m. I was the first member called to collect the member card. It just like a prize giving ceremony. OFFICIALLY, Hero is the Dog Scout and I am the TenderPaw member :-D

This was the first time I met chrisong and his award winning Angel. Angel is a cute little dog, although she is already 5 years old.

Finally I got a playmate for Hero. Casper, my second Maltese puppy. He is as adorable and energetic as Hero. He has thick soft white fur. His fur gives people the impression that he is fat. But he is only 1kg at the age of week 8. No doubt, he will become more handsome than Hero when he grows older because his has prettier coat!

Casper is *mysterically* paper trained by the breeder. He knows to pee pee and poo poo on the newspaper. Although he has a few accidents when I let him to roam to a bigger space (May be too big till he cannot find the newspaper :-p), yet I think he is very smart. I need not to spend too much time to train him. But he usually step on his on pee pee and the floor has the pee pee mark ! Well, guess I still have to be busy with the mop in my hand to clean the mark and odour. Tiring, but happy :-D

Hero is adjusting well to having a new puppy at home. At first, Hero was jealous because I want him to share his toys with Casper. Hero usually would snatch the toy/chew toys from Casper. However, Hero is learning and progessing well in sharing things with Casper.

Due to their different size, Hero was having some "experiment" on how to play with Casper. Casper fits perfectly under Hero when the both of them are standing.

Finally Hero found a way, he lays down and plays with Casper :-D

Casper likes to bark a lot when playing with Hero. When he knows Hero is going to "win", Casper barks and tries to "scare" Hero away. Casper always finds the opportunity to "hide" under the trolley :-D

My First Jungle Trekking

My first jungle trekking in P.J. It has been 2 years since I was in the *real* jungle after my backpacking in Australia. The trek last for about 2 hours. Hero and I were totally exhausted after that. It was an excited experience. Finally, I have a "full" execise session since I started working :-p

The jungle trekking took place in Taman Pendidikan Bukit Gasing. In there, I can bring Hero boy along to have a "free" walk with other doggie (although Hero was on his leash most of the time). I dare not to off leash him becuase this was our first time there. I want him to be familiar with this outing, the place, the trekker and the other dogs .

2nd Membership Drive @ Dog Scouts of Malaysia

Today is the 2nd Membership Drive for the Dog Scouts of Malaysia. I have been excited for few days as this would be the first time I brought Hero to public place besides the petshop and the veterinarian clinic!

I get to know about this dog scouts from Amanda. The event was from 5p.m. to 7p.m. at the open space between the Ikano Power Centre and IKEA. I started to prepare since morning.

I bath Hero at about 11a.m. Hero was quite dirty and smelly after a week without bathing. I used only the water to shower his body because I know he will get dirty again after the outing. Hero wasn't that smelly after the "plain water" shower :-D

Then I practised the tricks with him for about 15 minutes before I let him to have his nap.

It was 4 more hours to the departure time. Thus, I occupied my time with my normal weekend routine... house keeping ( a.k.a Ah Sei's Job )

It was 3p.m. after finished my work. I started to prepare the "equipment" for the outing.
1) Water bottle
2) Treats
3) Towel
4) Toilet tissue & plastic beg (in case of Hero poo poo)
5) Digicam

My beg was so bulky after stuffing these things.

Finally it's 20 mins to the departure time, I "forced" Hero to pee before we left. Very good boy, he peed!

It was a nice weather when we reached Ikano. I was nervous and so is Hero. Hero was shaking with fright when we was waiting for the lift and in the lift. This was our first experience in a shopping complex! I kept calming him by petting him.

Hero was the first dog to be there besides the organizer's GR. I signed up as indivual and paid RM30. In order to get into the scouts, Hero and I have to pass the exam !

Hero has to pass the TenderPaw test, which includes:
1) Heeling
2) Sit and down on command
3) Come when called
4) Socialization - the dog should stay calm when meeting a stranger or other dogs at the min of 3 ft / 1 meter apart

I was very confident that Hero can perform the first 3 exams very well. But quite worry about the forth test. Hero seldom socializes with other dogs. Quite afraid he will got excited and simply chase on other dogs!

Out of expectation, Hero passed the forth test but failed the third test ! When I commanded him to sit stay and I walked away for about 3 feets. I commanded him to come to me. He came but he turned to the other dogs half way! I have to chase him back.

He has to re-sit the test for the second time and finally he passed. Good Boy !

Well, It was my turn to take the test after Hero. I have to memorised THE DOG SCOUT OF MALAYSIA LAW.
1. Courteous and friendly
2. Set a good example
3. Respect wildlife
4. Well mannered
5. Show kindness
6. Respect public property and public areas
7. Help to uphold the DSM motto (forgot about the last word)

It has been 2 yrs time since I last took my final exam. Hhmm..... Amanda and I was in the same exam team. We have to speak out one law each time the tester said our name. My memory still good ! I manage to remember :-p and we passed the test too. Haha..

Congratulation! Hero is officially the Dog Scout !

Err... After all thse excitement, I realised that I forgot to ask my mother to take the pictures for me and Hero... sob* sob*

Hair Cut

Hero had his fur cut last week. He looks more like a poodle than a maltese. Basically the fur all over his body was trimmed and left only about 3-4cm long, except for the ear and tail. I need not comb him so much now since no hair to comb :-p

His face looks so much cleaner than before. He has a mimic look of snoopy when see from certain angel. Had not have the chance to snapshot the look.

Muddy Hero

I just could not help myself for laughing at those pictures. I found those pictures while organizing the photo album. Look how dirty is Hero. He just had a hard playing session at the Bukit Kiara Golf Club with the trainer's Jack Russel.

No doubt, I had a difficult time to groom him after this. Pure white to pure brown. The fur full of mud. But it is really glad to know that Hero had a wonderful time and it is all worth my hard work to clean him.

Today is a special day and I decided to begin the journey of HeroSpace. Hero is the first dog who make me love him as much as I love myself and my family. He is the first dog who changed my perception about dog. Hero is not only the pet, he is my firend, my lovely companion and my beloved "son".

Today is special as it is the second month I brought Hero home. He has been learning quick and growing well. Although he has been sick for twice within these 2 months, he is still so adorable, active and energetic.

I was extremely fear of dog before this, even with little puppy. I always kept at least 3 feets away from them. The reason ? I was chased by my uncle's gaint German Shephard when I was at the age of 5, from the 2nd floor of a shoplot to the 4th floor. The dog thought I was playing with him, indeed, I was always afraid of him due to its huge size. From then on, I never like dog !

Wonder why I changed suddenly ? During CNY 2006, I visited my best friend. She was dog sitting her boyfriend's 3 years old overweight Shih Tzu. Wow... I never knew dog could be so obedient. He neither bark at me nor jump up to me. He let me pet him whenever I like and he seems so enjoying. That was the first time ever I touch a dog.

Later, I had BBQ with my ex-colleagues. An ex-colleague brought his 3 1/2 years old mixed breed, a Silky Terrier mixed Maltese. A lot more active than the Shih Tzu but still very obedient. That night we talked about dog. My ex-colleague and his girlfriend shared with me their experience on raising their dog. I was approaching the dog's world step by step from then on.

While I was hasving a 3 weeks break before I start my new job, I did a lot of research on dogs. I fed myself with as much information on dogs as I can get from the internet. From the breed information, how to choose a breed, am I prepare for a dog, how to raise a puppy...

I had in mind to get a Maltese. I visited a few petshops in PJ nearby my house to have a look at the furkids. Seldom I had the chance to meet a Maltese until I saw Hero. Hero was in a petshop where the shop's owner had a few Malteses and 2 of which are owned by the petshop. They are so adorable and energetic.

I knew it is not advisable to get puppy from petshop. I admited I was quite desperate at that moment. The next weekend I brought my family to the petshop and showed them Hero. They agreed on giving Hero a new home. Hence, Hero was at the age of 5 1/2 months when I brought him home. Welcome, my Hero... (18 March 2006)
